Acoustical Deck:

Metal deck panels with perforations that is backed with insulation to create sound reduction.

Button Punch:

A tool used to connect interlocking side laps.

Cellular Roof Deck:

Is a traditional corrugated roof deck with a flat piece of steel welded to the underside for increased spanning and loading capabilities while creating enclosed cellular raceways.

Center to Center Span:

The distance between the centerline of the supporting structural members.

Composite Floor Deck:

Metal deck used as a form to create a structural concrete slab with additional metal deck as reinforcement. This type of metal deck has embossments to help the concrete adhere.

Cover Width:

The width, each piece of metal deck, will cover.  

Deck Bundle:

Multiple metal deck panels stacked and bound together for shipping and installation purposes.

End Closure:

A metal deck accessory made of flat steel used to create an edge of slab for the concrete.

Finish Paint:

Steel is coated with a thin layer of protective primer, .3-.4 mils per side, dried in an oven, and then a thicker coat of finish paint is applied to one or both sides, .6-.7 mils and then dried in an oven.

Flashing:

Thin pieces of impervious material installed to prevent the passage of water into a structure from a joint.

Form Deck:

Metal Deck used as a stay-in-place form for structural concrete.

Galvanized:

Steel, coated with a thin layer of zinc, for corrosion resistance.

Galvannealed:

Steel that is hot dipped, galvanized then heated to create a paint-ready matte finish.

Galvalume:

Steel coated with a thin layer of aluminum (55%) zinc (45%) alloy for corrosion resistance and durability.

Gauge:

The thickness of the steel.

Hanger Tabs:

An accessory attached to metal decking used to secure hanger wire for ceiling tile grids.

Interlocking Side-Lap or Seam:

Metal deck panels having a male and female side edge for interlocking or lapping the panels together.

Plastisol:

Galvanized G90 steel coated with a PVS Plastisol (plastic) coating for corrosion resistance in multiple high corrosion atmospheres.

Primer Painted:

Steel coated with a thin layer of protective primer, .3-.4 mils per side and then dried in an oven.

Pour Stop:

A metal deck accessory used around the perimeter of an opening to contain the concrete during placement. 

Roof Deck:

Steel deck panels used as a structural substrate in roof construction.

Side-Laps:

Side of metal sheets where they connect with other metal sheets.

Slab Depth:

Amount of concrete poured plus the depth of composite decking.

Span:

The distance between supports on which the metal deck will sit on to create the floor or roof.

Sump Pan:

A metal deck accessory made of a flat sheet of metal used to support roof drains.

Span:

The distance between supports on which the metal deck will sit on to create the floor or roof.
